About the position

EFFECT Photonics is looking for an experienced – Engineer – Systems Calibration 

We are seeking an experienced a Systems Calibration Engineer to join our growing team. You must be able to work across our technical teams where you will support our new product development efforts to develop new calibration routines enabling high volume production test solutions for EFFECT Photonics family of optical products. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong test development background, good understanding of PIC performance characteristics and knowledge of optical transceivers.

Role responsibilities:

  • Develop new automation software methods and work with manufacturing facilities to introduce and support calibration and test implementation
  • Work closely with PIC and product development teams to develop calibration and test plans aimed at optimizing product performance and ensuring compliance to specifications
  • Analyze test data and production trends to enable continuous improvement
  • Trial and deploy developed improvements in remotely located manufacturing partners
  • Enhance reliability, yield, and throughput of calibration and test processes in manufacturing while maintaining low cost

Requirements

About you

We want you to bring your expertise, experience, and passion for optical communications systems Design Verification and Testing to the forefront of our organisation, helping us create the most reliable products in the marketplace, thus helping us to create a world class company with a world class reputation.

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • You will have a BS /MS degree in Engineering or Physics
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ work experience in opto-electronic / photonics systems industry
  • Deep understanding of optical communications systems, including pluggable transceivers and DWDM systems
  • Solid understanding of optical communication fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Telecom specifications IEEE 802.3, SFF-8690, SFF 8418, SFP, QSFP
  • Ability to work with internal cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently in dynamic start-up environment
  • Good data analysis skills and strong understanding of statistical analysis principles
  • Experience with semiconductor laser development and production
  • Experience developing automated test solutions for system and component level products
  • Familiarity with laser characterization and testing
  • Be an expert using software languages such as (Python, SQL, JMP)
  • Strong Communication skills both verbal and written
