EFFECT Photonics started as a spin-off from Eindhoven University of Technology with a single ambition: put an entire optical system on one chip. Now that chip is in production, qualified for the programs that power global telecom and data center infrastructure, and backed by investors who understand what it takes to scale deep technology.
From our headquarters on High Tech Campus Eindhoven, we operate as a laser-focused, independent company. No conglomerate overhead. Just a team that has spent fifteen years solving one of the hardest problems in photonics — and is now scaling the answer across the telecom and data center markets that run the modern internet.

Own the development process
In close cooperation with our wafer partner EFFECT Photonics has developed its own Process Development Kit (PDK), the bases of in-house developed InP PICs.

We do not ship roadmap slides. A product is real when it has passed Telcordia, fits the MSA and runs on a production line.

Combines deep technical expertise with strong operational and stakeholder management skills to build high-performing organizations and accelerate growth in telecom, photonics, deep-tech, and digital infrastructure markets.
Sophie De Maesschalck
Seasoned CFO and technology business leader with 20+ years of experience guiding high-growth deep-tech, cloud, data infrastructure, software, and photonics companies. Proven track record in fundraising, scaling operations, M&A, strategic finance, and value creation, contributing to multiple successful acquisitions. Combines strong financial, operational, and entrepreneurial expertise with international leadership experience across startups, scale-ups, and venture-backed technology businesses.
Stijn Paps
Engineering leader using 20+ years of semiconductor experience spanning product engineering, test engineering, package development, operations, and new product introduction into photonics. Proven track record of leading global teams, transferring manufacturing across regions, and bringing complex technologies from feasibility to high-volume production. Combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership and execution skills to deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable products.
Guido Bekkers
Semiconductor leader with 25+ years of international experience spanning product line management, product marketing, business development, sales, and strategic growth. Proven track record of driving revenue expansion, defining winning product strategies, and building high-performing organizations across industrial, connectivity, semiconductor, and equipment markets. Combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial leadership to transform innovative technologies into profitable, scalable businesses worldwide with the right value proposition.
Veronique Gremmen-de Groot
Veronique has extensive experience in Human Resources and Organizational Change Management, holding senior and executive roles across industries including telecommunications, consultancy, energy, and omni-channel retail. She specializes in Strategic HR, Leadership, Transformation, and Organizational Development, having worked for companies such as KPN, Unisource, Office Depot, TenneT, and Conclusion Consultancy. She holds a degree in Human Resources Management and graduated with distinction from Nyenrode’s Supervisory Board and Governance program. In addition to her role at EFFECT Photonics, she serves on a Dutch Supervisory Board.
Andre van Hees
Andre is a seasoned senior manufacturing operations executive with 30+ years of industry experience across a range of large and small companies, both public and private. He is an expert in taking complex products from concept to volume production with emphasis on new product introduction, manufacturing and test engineering, material planning, production scheduling and control, quality assurance and sustainability.
Tim Koene
Technology entrepreneur and CTO with 15+ years of leadership experience in photonics, semiconductor systems, and advanced engineering. Founder of EFFECT Photonics and proven innovator in developing cutting-edge optical communication technologies from concept to commercialization. Combines deep expertise in systems, hardware, test, and product engineering with strong business leadership, team building, and execution capabilities to drive technology innovation, product development, and company growth.
