DESCRIPTION:The 2024 OCP Regional Summit in Europe\, taking place in Lisbon\, Portugal on April 24-25\, 2024\, addresses the pressing challenges posed by the increasing demand for data center capacity in Europe. With a focus on sustainability\, energy efficiency\, and innovation\, the Summit brings together technical and business leaders from EMEA to explore solutions for managing energy consumption\, water usage\, and construction materials. \nKey areas of emphasis include Data Center Sustainability\, AI\, Security & Data Protection\, Power & Cooling\, and Deployments\, with discussions extending to quantum technology\, optics\, and telecommunications. Participants will gain valuable insights into how innovations within the OCP Community are driving the development of a sustainable and scalable computational infrastructure for the future. \nCoherent Optics for Artificial Intelligence\nSpecial Focus: Optics for AI Clusters\nThe use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) models is transforming several industries\, and data centers are no exception. AI models are computationally heavy and their increasing complexity will require faster and more efficient interconnections than ever between the GPUs\, nodes\, server racks\, and campuses of data centers. These interconnects will have a major impact on the ability of data center architectures to scale and handle the demands of AI models in a sustainable way. \nIn this presentation\, Joost will discuss how coherent optics and photonics technologies can improve the cost and power per bit of these data center interconnects and what role they will play at different interconnect scales (intra-node\, intra-rack\, intra-campus).
