About the position

EFFECT Photonics is looking for an experienced – Technical Lead – Optical Systems Test 

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead – Optical systems Test to join our growing team. This position will be the technical lead of Optical Systems Test Development. We are seeking a highly experienced technical leader with a proven track record of delivery. You will work across the technical team and help EFFECT Photonics deliver its family of integrated photonics products to market.

Role responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate and integrate new technologies, components, and functionality into product designs
  • Design and develop optical system level testing for evaluating impacts of amplification, dispersion, PDL, PMD and channel interference
  • Provide design-for-test inputs to the development team on new product designs
  • Participate in all stages of design reviews with testability input and actively participate in critical releases
  • As part of the engineering development team, develop test scope, test method proposals and project timelines
  • Verify and analyze the implementation of module firmware and hardware control loops
  • Perform fiber optic amplified link system level testing
  • Develop test methods for high-volume test solutions for manufacturing

Requirements

About you

We want you to bring your expertise, experience, and passion for optical communications systems Design Verification and Testing to the forefront of our organisation, helping us create the most reliable products in the marketplace, thus helping us to create a world class company with a world class reputation.

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • You will have a MS /PhD degree in Engineering or Physics
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ work experience in opto-electronic / photonics systems markets
  • Deep understanding of optical communications systems, including pluggable transceivers and DWDM systems
  • Solid understanding of optical communication fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Telecom specifications IEEE 802.3, SFF-8690, SFF 8418, SFP, QSFP
  • Strong skills in characterizing optical performance and debugging first article transceiver modules
  • Ability to work with internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers, demonstrating excellent leadership and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently in dynamic start-up environment
  • Excellent data analysis skills and strong understanding of statistical analysis principles
  • Experience developing automated test solutions for system/component level products
  • Be an expert using software languages such as (Python, C#, SQL, JMP)
  • Strong Communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to be based in or able to travel to Maynard, Massachusetts where our facility is located
