About the position

EFFECT Photonics is looking for an experienced – Electronics Technician – Contractor*

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Technician to join our growing team. This position involves diverse responsibilities, you will work across our technical teams and help EFFECT Photonics to deliver its family of photonics solutions to the market. This is an on-site position in our Maynard, MA office.

*Hourly rate up to $50/hour working on a 1099 basis. This is an open-ended contract position with the strong potential of conversion to a permanent employee (if mutual interest).

Role responsibilities:

  • Perform the set-up, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, assemblies for engineering development group.
  • Perform re-works required during troubleshooting of circuit boards.
  • Manage lab facility, equipment and electronic component ordering.
  • You will be working closely with engineers leading various hardware projects, you will also be working with embedded software engineering and test team colleagues so the ability to work in a team environment and also to be comfortable working independently will be a key requirement.

Requirements

About you

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • You will have a minimum of BS degree in electronics or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as an employee or contractor providing electronics and hardware support within the technology and engineering sector
  • Strong Electronic skills – extensive knowledge of both digital and analog circuitry.
  • Familiarity using Windows based tools to run various software test scripts.
  • Proficient in use of electronic test equipment. such as: oscilloscope, DVM, signal generators, JLink memory flasher.
  • Experience with the soldering of SMT components required.
  • Interpersonal skills – must have effective written and oral communication skills and be able to interface well with fellow employees
  • Candidate will be required to spend time in Maynard, Massachusetts location.
